Can you break a weight loss plateau by eating MORE?

This might be a stupid question.

But if you’re in a calorie deficit for a long time and you hit a plateau, someone told me you can eat more like at maintenance or even higher(with the risk of gaining a pound back) for 3-7 days just to get your metabolism going again, and then drop your calories again and the weight will start coming off because you’re back in a deficit.

Is that accurate and does that actually work? In my head that makes sense but I’m not sure if it actually makes sense. I have the feeling I’m hitting a plateau and I’m really curious of trying that. I think it’s time I take a break from counting calories anyways.
