Have US Women’s pant sizes changed significantly in the past 4 years?

At my heaviest in 2016, I weighed 193, and I wore a US size 14. I lost 43 pounds (could never break the 150 number), and I went down to a slightly baggy US size 8, back in 2018. I’ve jumped back up to 187, but I’m working on increasing my water intake and decreasing calories (water is one of my struggles.) However I can still wear the size 8. It’s tight, but not muffin top territory. It has me very confused. For reference I always buy Old Navy or Arizona brand jeans.

I’m finding that wearing the same jeans size has hurt my motivation to lose weight, even though I know I need to, for my health mainly. I can still semi-comfortably wear a size medium T-shirt, where as before larges were tight.
