I’m a bit nervous about posting this but here goes. I’ve been counting my calories and increasing my exercise, but I’m actually gaining weight. After two weeks I’ve gained 0.5kg.
I’ve been trying to stick to 1200 calories but I’m finding it really hard and keep going over my calorie budget because I’m hungry. My TDEE is apparently 1700. I don’t know if I can keep up a deficit long term, I’m feeling so defeated, hungry and because I’m gaining weight I’m feeling like it’s impossible and I’ll just keep gaining weight. I have an office job too, so being sedentary most of the day isn’t helping.
I’m classified as “overweight” according to my BMI and need to lose about 6-10kg to be in a healthy weight range. I’m 163cm (about 5’4 I think, for the Americans) and weigh about 71.7kg (158 lbs). I know that losing about 10-20lbs isn’t much for some people but because I’m short and half-healthy (I never drink soda and rarely drink alcohol, only eat takeaway 1-2 times a week, eat vegetables, etc) so figuring out how to lose weight is really hard for me. I’m jealous of people who can say that they just cut soft drinks and then lose 10kg.
I’m thinking I need to buy a food scale to start weighing my food, since I must be underestimating my calories. I’m also thinking of buying a protein powder so I don’t feel hungry as often. Also, I’m wanting to join a fitness group but can’t yet because ‘rona....
TLDR - trying to lose weight to be in a “healthy” weight range, but I’m actually gaining weight. Anyone have any advice for a short sedentary woman on how to lose weight?
