I lost about 80 lbs in 2019, at a fairly consistent rate of 2lbs per week for 9ish months (sloppy 16:8 IF and calorie counting), and it's been quite a learning experience. I've been maintaining for the past couple months, and looking back at the data it struck me that the number of calories I need to maintain at 175lbs is only about 400 less than it was at 255 where I started.
It's strange to think that I'm only 1 McDonalds burger a day away from being 80 lbs fatter. On one hand, that 400 calories sounds like a small sacrifice to make to feel so much better. On the other hand, it really doesn't take that much junk food to add up to 400 calories. It's a fine line, especially if you've never previously given a second thought to serving sizes or caloric density of certain foods.
