This has probably been said a million times before but don't try to over-compensate for missed sessions.

I've been working out consistently for about two months, but during the holidays I had to skip working out a few times, I decided I'd make up for it on the second, I pushed myself further than I ever had gone, it felt great until I realized that I had pulled two muscles.

Now I've had to wait a few says for those to heal before I get back into it and when I do I will have to take it lighter than I would have if I just took it easy.

There's no shame in taking a step back, every session doesn't have to be harder than the last, pushing yourself too hard will result in injury, especially if you've missed some sessions.
