My wake up call

Hi everyone, I'm 31/F and my wake-up call truly happened a few weeks ago. Right now, I'm 5'4 and 220lbs.

First of all, I've always been on the heavy side, but my weight really started to peak a few years ago after I had my boys. The heaviest I've gotten was after my second boy I was 245 (2016). At that point I committed to lose weight and got down to 210. Last year I got down to 185, but my weight has been increasing all year.

In 2018 I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called sarcoidosis. I was hospitalized for a week bc I was coughing up 1/4 cup of blood every few hours. After months of testing they finally diagnosed me with acute sarcoidosis. It's been well managed and hasn't greatly affected my life.

My wake-up call happened a few weeks ago after my doctors appointment. My weight has crept back up to 220, but more importantly they found signs of inflammation and "crushed glass opacity" in my lungs. This means that my sarcoidosis is not acute, but it chronic and will affect me for the rest of my life, which could lead to breathing problems and a shortened lifespan.

In light of this news, I'm making significant changes. I've switched to a whole foods plant based diet. This has been shown to lower systemic inflammation and greatly control autoimmune diseases. I'm also increasing my cardio and lifting routine to 5-6 days per week. I need to get my lungs as healthy as possible before my sarcoidosis gets any worse.

Although losing weight would be great, my primary focus is on my overall health. I'm focusing on quality nutrition and overall fitness, which will hopefully lead to weightloss as well.
