Exercised and ate less for 2 weeks, but GAINED 8 lbs

I was 212 before going to the gym and eating less food for 2 weeks, and now after exercising nearly everyday, and actually finally being able to run a mile in 10 minutes again, I managed to GAIN 8 lbs. Bruh. I did do weightlifting and upperbody lifting, but I don't think you can build that much muscle in 2 weeks.

To compare I basically never worked out before and just sat all day so idk. It just doesn't make sense that I gained weight. I can't check BF% right now so I'm unsure if I've increased or decreased

Any tips or reasons why you think this happened? I literally skipped out on Christmas dinner for this shit.
