i talked with a dietician about fast food, and she talked about how most big-name chains do have healthy food. it’s of course never gonna be as healthy as making it yourself, but you can still totally go to a fast food place with friends and have a decently filling meal.
i’ll put some of my favorite foods from big fast food places below, in case anyone is interested
mcdonald’s mains egg mcmuffin - 300 cal 6 piece mcnuggets - 280 cal hamburger - 250 cal crispy chicken ranch snack wrap - 350 cal grilled chicken ranch snack wrap - 270 cal grilled chicken caesar salad (no dressing) - 200 cal
sides small fries - 250 cal hash browns - 150 cal side salad (no dressing) - 20 cal apple slices - 15 cal
treats snack size oreo mcflurry - 340 cal
taco bell mains chicken soft taco fresco style - 150 cal fresco soft taco w/ beef - 180 cal crunchy taco fresco style - 150 cal bean burrito fresco style - 400 cal cheesy toasted breakfast burrito - 350 cal burrito supreme fresco style - 350 cal cheesy roll-up - 200 cal
sides black beans and rice - 200 cal
jack in the box mains chicken fajita pita - 350 cal southwest chicken salad - 350 cal two tacos - 350 cal breakfast jack - 350 cal five piece chicken nuggets - 240 cal grilled chicken salad (no dressing or croutons) - 250 cal
sides treetop applesauce pouch - 45 cal

wendy’s mains jr hamburger - 240 cal grilled chicken sandwich - 400 cal grilled chicken wrap - 300 cal plain baked potato - 270 cal large chili - 270 cal small chili - 160 cal (don’t sleep on wendy’s chili. it’s actually good)

treats junior vanilla frosty - 200 cal
using this list, i can easily get a 500-600 calorie meal at a fast food place. it won’t be super nutritious, but a lot of these options have good amounts of protein. totally fine to go to these places occasionally and in moderation
