I’ve been struggling with restricted eating and BED for the last couple years and sugar is a huge trigger for it. Like all my binges are caused by craving sugar.
I was debating whether or not I should just complete cut out sugar but I’ve read so many opposing arguments to both sides.
Either:
a.) I keep eating it in my diet. Ideally moderating how much I have. This feels harder as I reallllly struggle with just only have small portions of sweet/sugary food. And then there’s the sugar crashes which fuels more cravings for it later on. I’ve read that eating sugars just keeps you in this cycle of craving it as long as it’s there.
B.) I remove it from my diet. This then ‘demonises’ the sugar in my head which way make me think about it a lot more as wanting something I can’t have. Potentially this may also cause a binge later down the line as when I went off keto (was doing for two months) I consumed so much sugar and sweets as if my body was deprived of it for years and was stockpiling it like i was entering starvation or something.
These are both hypothetical and may not actually happen, I’m just preparing for the worst. Any advice from people that have done either of these options or had this debate themselves?
