I wanted to share with you my small victory regarding changing my diet and lifestyle.
I live in Australia which obviously has a massive issue with alcohol culture in general. Since I was about 21 I would finish work and like clockwork, I would have 2+ beers. This became a habit of having 2-4 beers every night until recently (I am 28).
I work in high-end sales so the money is great but the stress is massive, so I have lied to myself for so long by saying "I'll just have a beer because I am stressed and I have earned it". This logic is obviously ridiculous since drinking will only reduce stress for a brief window and makes exercise even harder (even though that would actually reduce stress).
I decided to make changes to my diet, I understand the logic of dieting (macros, caloric deficit etc.) but never implemented it because I had no structure to my diet.
I have started tracking my macros and eating breakfast and eating lunch which has helped curb my alcohol craving massively because I am sure I was craving the carbohydrates in beer more than I was the alcohol content.
I can't believe it, I thought I would struggle so much to try and kick my alcohol cravings, but healthy eating habits and a small bit of willpower have made a huge difference.
This will probably get buried, but the FAQ on this page helped me take the steps and realise it isn't as hard as it has to be.
