I maintained while on vacation!

My stats: 32F, 5'4" (165 cm), SW 265 lbs (120 kg), CW: 214 lbs (97 kg), GW: 125-130 lbs (57-59 kg)

As background, I've been actively trying to lose weight since February 2021. I have essentially just been counting calories. I'm not super physically active at this point due to some issues with my leg that I am working through, so I'm pretty much losing weight through managing my diet.

I can't believe I'm so excited to have basically just maintained my weight, lol. But, it's super exciting for me because it kind of shows that I've been doing a good job of making a "lifestyle change."

I've essentially been on the road and away from home for about 3.5 weeks. At the beginning of September, I went on a 16 day vacation, then immediately traveled to a wedding, and then turned around and have been on the road for work this week. At the end of August, I weighed myself and was 215 lbs (97.5 kg).

I decided that while I was on vacation, I wasn't going to be as strict about actually tracking my calories. I didn't want to stress myself and feel guilty about eating out at restaurants, or indulging in (a lot) of cocktails. So, I ate and drank what I wanted, just trying to be mindful of portion sizes and not overeating. I didn't weigh myself at all because I generally didn't have access to a scale.

When we got back home this past Sunday, I weighed myself before heading out for my work trip. 220 lbs (100 kg). I was actually super thrilled that it wasn't more, given that I wasn't eating the healthiest food. Then I started thinking, hey, 5 lbs is within the realm of "normal" weight fluctuation for water weight or where I am in my cycle...maybe it's just water weight because I'd spent 18 hours on planes, 12 hours in cars, and ate and drank like crap at the wedding in the prior 72 hours before weighing myself. So, I told myself that I'd try to get back on the wagon while on my work trip, weigh myself when I got home, and see where we landed.

And that's where we are today. 214 lbs. Basically the same. I'm really happy with myself. I think it helps me see that what I'm doing is working and is sustainable. It also showed me that it's okay to go a little ham and maaaaybe have a few too many Mai tais a couple of nights at the bar. I know it's easier for me to get away with that and maintain because I'm still over 200 lbs and have a higher TDEE, so I will be sticking to weighing food and making my lunches, etc. etc. while continuing to work towards my goal. However, it's still nice to see that going "on pause" and living a little large for a couple of weeks won't derail everything.
