Sooooo... I've been struggling with my weight since I was in my late teens and need to get a grip. I've been reading the posts here for a while, and figure it's time to get serious. Working from home during Covid in Canada has resulted in strengthening bad habits and I tipped the scale at 257 pounds the other day.
It's a well-worn path - have a drink in the evening watching TV, start to think that a snack would go well with the drink, dive into the chips / peanuts / pretzels / Doritos etc. and then think 'a drink would go well with these snacks...' - lather, rinse, repeat. Night after night.
I won't blame my weight gain on bad genes, circumstance or otherwise - I think it's healthier to own what I've done to myself. As my wife has reminded me on occasion - 'the fork was in your hand the whole time.'
I've started a few small things - daily exercise and trying to go to bed / get up at the same time, and am working on limiting TV watching in the evening so as not to trigger the snack attacks.
I'm grateful for the posts that show that gaining control is possible, and know that this will be an interesting journey.
Keep up the posts, and thanks for the motivation.
Stay safe, y'all!
