Finally hit my high school weight, graph included, SV and NSVs!

Never used imgur hope that worked for you guys. So the first thing you might notice from the graph is that it goes linearly at first to the peak and then declines steadily. This is because I only tracked my weight in high school 6 years ago) and started to track my weight at my heaviest 226 lbs (2 years ago). So that’s why it looks like I linearly gained a ton of weight.

Anyways, I just wanted to show my graph and my SV today. I won’t go into super detail but I was put on medication, having severe emotional distress, and gained weight too, the one and only time I was what I would consider heavily overweight. And I’m sure like some of you, you reach that point of “I really let myself go, I want to do something about it”. This journey was a year and a half+ with many struggles.

One continuous struggle was that I would have 600 calories of wine at night which only left me with a 1200 calorie window for food… I got many dislikes in this sub for that, of course. Well NSV, last night I didn’t drink alcohol at all (or marijuana for that matter), had a completely regular day of eating, including snacks … actual snacks… that I haven’t really been able to fit into calories for 2 years. I felt so proud that I didn’t drink because I woke up with energy and I actually felt good…. (Because I often used alcohol as a sleep aid I only slept for 3 hours this night, I’m aware that that is incredibly unhealthy but I plan on continuing to drink less and probably won’t drink this week at all just so I can correct this -surprisingly, as I said, I felt way better than usual).

I went for my 4+ km run at 6 am this morning and was singing the songs out loud and pushing myself it was awesome! Much better than drinking. Just for reference to lose the weight: the first half to lose weight rapidly was CICO combined with rigorous exercise (40 mins strength training 20 mins cardio). Well the gyms closed so the last 6-7 months I’ve been running very consistently usually 4-6 times a week.

Most of those months I was drinking at night and one thing I noticed in my run today was that I had a tiny bit more of a step in me. Halfway through my run I said “I could go an hour today” which I hadn’t said for that 6-7 months once. So NSV yay! Since I’ve been drinking at night for 2 years I obviously won’t just go cold turkey but I want to keep this streak going and won’t give myself too much heck if I slip up.

I’m so happy to be my high school weight again, it feels like such a relief. Since I’ve been running for a while my calves are juiced and my legs are logs haha (sorry it’s just true not trying to be cringy or braggy I actually hope it motivates someone to be honest to know they can have that too). So I’m proud of my lower body development as a side effect of running to losing weight.

Of course do whatever you feel comfortable or is currently working to lose weight. What worked for me was TDEE value, CICO to adjust to it, and exercise for the extra cushion of calories (6 am morning jobs!). I also mainly focussed on protein/fat but it was just a preference. I’m learning to include more carbohydrates into my diet.
