I do not calorie count, i find it leads to disordered eating, obsession, and while yes, CICO is a fact, disordered eating leads to weight gain for me. and even worse, it negatively affects my mental health please do not recommend it.
instead of doing calorie counting, i have combined a few different methods. things like mindfulness, gentle nutrition, intuitive eating etc.
it basically all boils down too, trying to listen to my body before, during and after eating, not ban any foods, but continually trying healthier foods. This works for me, i have lost about 20 kilos over 3 years, and i am continuing to lose weight. its a slow process, but the overall trend is much better than anything else i have tried.
i notice what seems to happen is that my weight will be stable-ish , i continue to find healthier alternatives i enjoy, trying to increase my activity etc... i will start craving higher calorie foods, and eat more, and then my weight will 'woosh'.
now, i am not suggesting that eating more is actually making me lose weight, i am wondering if this is related to reverse dieting in someway, "resetting" my metabolism/appetite or perhaps eating more for some reason decreases bloating/water weight?
