Losing weight has brought back my love of fashion.

So, I used to be 240 pounds at 6’3. I looked great and I felt awesome. Then I moved states and the weight just kept piling up until I hit 470. I had so many “awakening” moments where I would decide to diet and then just gave up. But back in October, I moved back in with my parents and it has been a godsend. My parents eat things that are actually good for you and since I don’t shop for myself anymore, I’m not buying soda and chips. I barely eat meat and I eat things that will fill me up faster. But just yesterday, I finally weighed under 400. I don’t usually reveal my weight to my parents but I tried to act all cool and revealed I finally passed the first threshold. And while I still have a ways to go until I hit my goal, I realized a passion I slowly gave up. Fashion.

When I was a normal weight, I loved looking for new outfits and would try new styles. As I got heavier, it became gym shorts and cargo shorts with a plain Tee. I remember going to a big and tall shop and trying a button up shirt and being heartbroken how it looked on me. It hung off my stomach and made it look like I was pregnant (I’m male). And shirts I thought looked cool made my torso look like a pear. So for the past 5 years, I’ve been wearing the same outfits. I honestly just didn’t care about what I wore. I even told myself and others “whatever, once I get to my goal weight, I’ll still wear the same things.”

But once I stepped on the scale yesterday, I got excited and started thinking about my life when I get to my goal weight. I realized I was just fantasizing about the different outfits I could wear. And with the new Animal Crossing that came out, I’ve been living vicariously through that and making potential outfits I’d love to recreate. I’m even trying new things like more stylish haircuts and growing normal looking facial hair.

Anyway, I’m just really excited and wanted to share my progress. I’m happier and I’m starting to have a healthier relationship with food and I kind of just wanted to brag.
