Hello!
I was getting back into fitness and working out this year. My initial goal was to cut down to 115 pounds (For reference I am 19F, 5’0, 127 lbs), and retain a slim figure, but after losing some weight from last year (I had gained around 20 pounds and lost half of it recently), I noticed how flabby and flat I looked. I now want to get back into weightlifting and obtain a toned body and bigger glutes.
My question is- should I cut down my weight first and then start to build muscle? I still do have some fat, especially on my upper body (more specifically my shoulders and arms) that I want to slim down but my legs and butt are starting to look tiny. I understand that you need to be in a caloric surplus to build muscle, but right now I am in a caloric deficit to lose weight steadily. I am just worried about looking too bulky on my upper body if I just start lifting at a caloric surplus right now.
Any comments appreciated!
