I was pushed into joining my work's Biggest Loser competition and I think it was the motivation I needed. (Also looking for advice)

I recently started a new job and last week I saw a paper taped to the fridge. It gave the details of a biggest loser competition in the staff of who can lose the highest body weight percentage. I wanted to try it but I work in a huge facility that employs a lot of people, I had no clue how to find this person running it and I'm also very shy, so I decided not to do it. Turns out, Monday was the first day to get your initial weight and start. One of my coworkers was going and asked me to, I was like 'oh... I don't know...' She essentially forced me to go with her.

Until then I had no clue how much I weighed. I am a 22 year old female, 5'7.5" and weigh 235 pounds. I've struggled with my weight since high school but this is the highest I've ever been. I've tried losing weight before but have never been able to stick with it. I even lost about 20 lbs this spring and gained it all back after a cross country move and a sedentary summer job.

Ever since Monday I've felt far more motivated than ever before to lose weight. I don't know if its my competitive nature, fear of looking lazy in front of strangers or the $20 I had to add to the pot, but I'm excited for this.

Here is a breakdown of what I've been doing. I would greatly appreciate some constructive criticism.

I walk about 2-3 miles a day at work. This is not optional its required for my job. I went to the gym yesterday and am going tomorrow. I'm starting out at 3 days a week or every other day if I can, to start slow. I'm also looking into to twice weekly kickboxing classes as I think it would be more fun for me and I know very little about workout machines at a traditional gym and get overwhelmed seeing all the different machines so it might be a better option for at least part of my workouts.

Food: Breakfast: I've been bringing a cup of oatmeal with me to work that I eat my desk. About 180 calories. Lunch: I usually bring a variety of things similar to tomorrow's packed lunched which is cottage cheese, celery and peanut butter, and grapes. About 400 calories. It seems boring but so far im enjoying it and will branch out if i get tired of such a basic lunch. Sometimes I have about a handful of peanuts if I'm starving between lunch and clocking out. Dinner: This is a part I'm struggling with. Breakfast and lunch are easy but dinner is hard because I cook for my boyfriend as well and have a hard time finding healthy meals that appeal to both of us, also we have a TON of deer in the freezer and I don't know if that's good or not for a diet. Tonight I made baked chicken thighs and some pasta, not the greatest on the diet but I carefully watched my portion size and I think I did okay.

I've been using My fitness pal for tracking all my food, and I'm averaging about 800 calories under budget.

Anyways, my first weigh in for the competition is tomorrow and lose, gain, or stay the same I'll be happy because I feel great.
