Finally feeling healthy overall.

It's been a while since I last posted here... but I felt I needed to share my experience involving a personal trainer...and finally being comfortable with what I'm doing and who I became.

I went from 95 kilos (209pounds) to 60 kg (132 pounds) mostly through diet, almost exclusively. I was incredibly afraid of the gym, machines, and stuff, so much so that I avoided going entirely for months. Then someone here on Reddit suggested a Personal trainer for a bit to get to know things.

This made a huge difference. My weight remained the same, but I felt more accomplished, more active, and most importantly, the stress that was eating me alive in life slowly started fading. I never had a lot of body image issues because I didn't care too much about it, for me, it was mostly about being healthy, and how could I without working out. The personal trainer took 2 months to help me through my fears and anxiety, now I go every day and I feel like I know what I'm doing. The personal trainer also used weight training to show me that I'm so capable, and the harder I push myself the better I feel. This person helped me even to manage my work-related procrastination by asking me to workout whenever I felt like procrastinating. The workout routine gave me some much-needed order and focus, so more things in my life started getting better.

I by no means am trying to say that you need to have a personal trainer, but sometimes a helping hand can make the difference between being skinny and healthy all around. I didn't have body image problems, still don't, nor did I felt like a failure as a human or anything like it. But this small change, this plan/help/person, made me feel even better. My point here is that sometimes we feel we can't do this alone, and it may be true, so finding a community, or a friend, or therapists, can help. Never be scared of asking for help. Losing weight is about improving every aspect of your life.

My typical day involves about an hour at the gym, the same food that helped me lose weight (16:8 IF and not so many carbs), but I feel fulfilled. I am doing something that is sustainable, that makes me feel better, and that is improving every aspect of my life. I feel empowered, capable and confident in what I'm doing in and out of the gym.

So my advice is simple, this can be done through diet alone, I did it, but health requires more, and help is sometimes needed.
