Can drastically and rapidly reducing sugar intake cause nightmares?

I've been overweight my whole life, but it's been the worst it's ever been over the last 2 years after giving birth. I used food to deal with my Postpartum depression, and let's just say it got pretty bad. So fast forward to about 2 weeks ago, I decided to stop eating candy or sweets of any kind. I quit cold turkey, and it's been EXTREMELY difficult. Now, for the past few days I've been having horribly vivid nightmares that wake me up in the middle of the night (which happened to be my favorite time for sweets), and they make me literally afraid to go back to sleep. Could the lack of sugar be the cause of this?
