Any tips for someone who is afraid to lose weight?

I stress eat a lot and don’t have the best relationship with food and body image, so although I have already been slowly gaining weight for over a year now, it has always been okay until now. I have hit my highest weight again (144 lbs, 5’5), and have gained ~15lbs in one year. Now, it’s still considered a healthy weight, but I hate how I look and feel at this weight. All my clothes still fit, but they are tight. My face carries a lot of the fat and I hate smiling because you can see all the cheek and chin fat better. That’s my biggest insecurity, honestly. I’d be at peace with weight gain if you couldn’t see it clearly in my face.

Realistically, I only have to lose 5 lbs at the least to see a change and feel more fit again. I am starting loose keto (No bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, or sweets) and have just completed one day. I am not counting calories because as I mentioned, I do not have a good relationship with food. However I am a varsity athlete and go to the gym almost every day (I know, crazy that I work out so much but still gain a lot of weight when under stress—it sucks) Hopefully, all this exercise will balance things out.

My problem starts here. Anytime I have the mindset that I want to lose weight, I start to doubt myself. I start to get these fake pangs of hunger, and I get this weird anxious feeling in my heart, as though I think I’m starving myself or something and I’m getting weak because of it. But it’s all in my head, because it is only the end of day one of keto and I’ve been eating tons the past couple of weeks because of the holidays, plus despite avoiding refined carbs today, I ate very filling meals. How do I get over this obstacle an finally shed this weight?
