I’m 28F, 164cm/5’4 and 149lbs/67.7kg. 1400 calories/day.
I’ve been going to the gym regularly (4-5 days a week, usually strength training) on and off for about 2 years. I also snowboard for about 16 hours a week December-April. I’ve always been a bit bigger despite all this, and due to an upcoming wedding + a big trip to see some old friends, I decided to really buckle down and lose some weight. I tend to store a lot of fat in my face and it’s always, always bothered me - the only way for me to be okay with it is to avoid mirrors and photos. My goal is to get to around 60kg/130lbs and then start eating at maintenance.
On August 21st, I kickstarted this journey with an excruciating 5 hour hike. Since then, I’ve used a kitchen scale to log everything - and I mean everything (1 tsp of oil, 1 tbsp of ketchup, 25ml of milk) and meal prepped every meal. I have one “cheat day” on Saturday, but it just means it’s a day where I don’t track. I eat out, but still don’t eat more than 70% full.
5 nights a week, I either take a hour long walk or lift weights at the gym.
I’ve only lost 1.2kg/2.6lbs. I started at 68.9/152, lost the first kilo within a week, and now I’m here, but I’m still fluctuating between 67.5-68.0.
I see people talking about losing 10 pounds or 5kg in two weeks. I see people talking about seeing process. Why am I not seeing that? I eat clean, too - home cooked veggies, salads, lean meats, fruits and oats. I know our bodies are all different. I know results are gradual. But it’s been so painfully slow for me and it’s making me miserable. Is it really harder to lose muscle?
I just wants to vent and see if anyone is in a similar boat or have gone through this, and if you found some sort of way out of this pit.
Thanks for reading ❤️
