Lately I’ve been getting into running, which for me is more like interval jogging with ambition. Yesterday, the park I went to was more crowded than usual, so I was jogging more often in order to decisively pass slower walkers - I hate the social awkwardness of slooooowly overtaking someone at walking speed. At one point, I broke into a jog to pass a couple, dipped out into the other lane … just in time to see a bike come around the corner, coming towards me. And normally, I would have had to like throw on the brakes and fall back behind the walkers, but yesterday I was actually able to dig in, find another gear, run a liiiittle faster, and safely pass the folks and get back to my side without stressing out the oncoming biker! My hip flexors have all sorts of opinions for me about it today, but lord that little sprint felt AMAZING. Past me could never, and I want to make sure that future me always can.
