How to manage this monkey brain?

Hi all! I have been trying to release body fat for a long time. I'm healthy and extremely athletic for my job, however I'd like to be rid of some of my body fat. I know how to eat to lose weight but I end up feeling hopeless about the food restrictions. Then the plan goes out the window and I don't follow it. I know logically what I need to do to get what I want in this situation, but I have a feeling that the monkey brain needs something to rein back my impulsive thoughts and actions towards food. I have a massive streak on Duolingo, and the reason I keep coming back to it is because I want to keep and progress the streak. So here's the thought... I need a visual "streak" to keep me maintaining my calorie goal every day. An example would be a jar that I place a trinket in every day that I stick to my guns. That way I want to keep it going and have an immediate visual reward for this monkey brain. Does anyone have any cool ideas for such a thing?

Ps, the reward cannot be money or food.
