I only recently started my journey and I am down 10 lbs. But I learned I might have overdone it with my calorie cutting.
I was doing 600 or so sometimes 700, more on the weekends with the family, but sometimes around 400 cals. But I was misreading my fitness app, and after doing some looking I see it's possible to lose muscle from a calorie deficit?
I have really picked up the exercise, filling a pretty big hole in my life with exercise instead of food or video games this time. I run/walk (couch to 5k program) in the morning three to four times a week for 30 min, and I am hitting the gym three afternoons a week to do weight machines. While skipping lunch I have been hitting the heavy bag, and using my home bench press machine every day (usually when I am stressed ill do some in the morning or evening as well).
I desperately want to keep losing, and I NEED this win in my life right now, but I'm not willing to hurt myself to feel attractive again.
Is there a minimum I need to eat per day to make sure I can maintain and gain muscle, while losing fat? Is what I need to eat dependant on how many calories I'm burning, or do I just need enough to keep my muscles from being eaten along with the fat?
