Cycling Advice for Heavy Bodies?

I am 275lbs and in search of a bike that can deal with me.

I am not a low-energy biker; I stand-up pedal on inclines, go of-roading, and always aim for new max speeds.

Every bike I've tried has issues with the chain skipping or wearing out the gear teeth prematurely. My most recent bike's HANDLEBARS couldn't even handle my weight and loosened/rotated within 5 minutes of riding despite repeatedly tighten them. And don't get me started on brakes - I can't even use my front OR rear brakes without them SCREAMING from trying to stop so much weight. It's incredibly embarrassing.

Be honest - will paying more for a much nicer bike solve all these issues? Or am I destined to ruin bikes until I lose enough weight?

I'd love to hear your experience with different brands, and even bike types. And any other advice for "Biking While Big" would be appreciated, too!
