I'm not all that heavy, but I have had between 20-40 pounds I've been meaning to lose since, forever.
Lately I've had the revelation that willpower just won't get it done, for me. I have to have some concrete tricks and techniques.
For example, I need to eat vegetables, but I really don't care for vegetables much at all. So, how to?
Well, in the morning, I fill a big ziploc bag full of raw cauliflower, snap peas, maybe some grapes and an apple. All day as I drive around, it's right there on the seat next to me. It's impossible not to eat it all. And then I don't stop for coffee and a doughnut.
I've also discovered why people eat smoothies: because you can grind a whole big bunch of spinach, plus a cucumber, down to 2-3 cups in size. And a minimal amount of yogurt, berries, grapes, nuts, and ice will make it very tasty without a lot of sugar. Maybe everybody else already knows this.
Another one. Take a big bag of frozen mixed vegetables, pour it out on a pan, put it in the oven at 170 degrees, all day. It will turn into a very tasty crunchy snack. Healthy, and you won't be tempted to eat too much, because eating it is hard work. Mixed vegetables work, corn, green peas.
I'm still experimenting and coming up with other ways to stuff myself on vegetables and like it.
Eating all this stuff has driven a lot of terrible food out of my diet, without a lot of effort. The weight is starting to fall off, seemingly without much work. Of course I'm also doing CICO, intermittent fasting, gym, etc etc. But these little tricks to get help me get 8+ servings of veg a day, seem to be the magic bullet for me.
