Hi r/loseit,
Over the last couple years I've lost ~30lbs or so just by being mindful of what I was eating. I didn't even notice the changes until I saw an old picture. That's what gave me the motivation to actually work towards a goal.
I tried CICO on and off but could never do it for more than a few days. Oh well, I said, guess that's just "not for me." So I at least did what I could and started working out (weights).
Now I've been going to the gym 3 times/week for the last 3 months, and feeling the energy and actually having fun working out flipped something inside of me.
So I recently started doing CICO again (about 2 weeks now), and I was really demotivated by not seeing any progress on the scale - literally getting the same number everyday.
But I still continued on, because I knew the science, it must start working eventually right?
Then just today, I did a body composition scan—my gym offers one for free monthly—and, as it turns out, I've actually lost 4.4% bodyfat and gained ~8lbs of muscle in the last month. All the while, the scale stayed at 274.
I lost fat, but not weight. So if you've felt the same, remember, the scale only weighs the molecules in your body, it doesn't weigh your progress. It can vary wildly day-to-day depending on how much water your body retains, if you just took a shower, etc.
Keep it up! Weight is just one of many numbers that define your progress.
