The simple truth
To lose weight you must consume less calories then you consume. That simple, if you want to lose more weight faster you eat less. A calorie from a coke is the same as a calorie from a steak.
I am down 20 lbs so far on calorie counting, my girlfriend said she's going start her "no crab diet" which is kinda annoying cause all we have in the house is a lot of carbs but it what it is. I encourage her to calorie count. She says "No thats not how you lose weight, you lose weight by doing no carbs" and I'm like 'OK"
We eat dinner, I finish the day consuming just 1,890 calories when my goal was to stay under 2,300 (score!) I eat my dinner a bit later so I don't get hungry.
My girlfriend eats a smaller dinner, and then ends up consuming a bag of chips and wonders why she hasn't lost weight. I looked at the bag, 700 calories...just a bit under what my dinner was but its all crap calories and isn't filling.
I also I find it tiring to say "I can't eat carbs" or "I can only eat lean meats" or whatever. I find it much easier to go "Anything you want stay below X"
