When I was younger, I used to love swimming, hiking, softball, all kinds of stuff. I ended up shooting to ~200 by 9th grade and more later on for various reasons. I stopped doing any activity where my face would turn red, I would sweat, or I'd show off too much of myself. Today, I have a lot of issues moving socially-- I hold my breath when I walk so nobody hears me, I never walk in groups of my friends, etc.
My therapist pointed out to me that I don't actually hate exercise, but my body image issues get in the way of it. When someone asks me if I'm coming to swim, I never say no because I don't want to, I say no because I don't want to show anything or be weird and swim in clothes.
Just a perspective I thought I'd share. :-) It made me feel a lot more open to exercise and finding things I can do privately.
