How to best resist temptation when dieting and not overeat?

I’m 17F and I’ve been trying to lose a little bit of weight recently. I’ve been going to the gym a lot and I’ve noticed I’m definitely more toned but the scale hasn’t changed. One of my biggest issues is that I work at cold stone so it’s very hard sometimes to resist eating ice cream while I’m working. When I’m not working I’ve found that I can eat healthy and resist overeating during the day but then at night I end up eating too much or eating sweets. Any advice for how to stop this habit? I feel like once I fix this aspect of my diet I’ll finally be able to lose weight and I’ve made a lot of changes but my biggest issue is with self control.
