i’m new here, sorry if this breaks any rules.
so basically i’ve (17F) been trying to lose weight consistently for two years and nothing has worked for me except for what i’ve tried recently. i’m in three sports and am super active and i work out over the summer, and all of my sports are entirely body-based and not team at all. basically i just work my body all the time, mostly cardio. most weeks it’s over 20 hours a week. sometimes i work out four hours in one day just with how high school practices are. to give you an idea, of just how much working out it is, i’m on my first month long break right now in about three years and my period has only just come back. i know this isn’t an issue with eating enough because it hasn’t been present even when i was eating enough to be gaining consistently over the course of months (when i was 14).
despite this, i never ever lose weight and stay the same consistent weight. i’m at the upper end of the healthy BMI and i would prefer to be at the lower end of it. my goal is literally just to lose ten pounds. i’ve tried to eat healthier, higher protein, i’ve cut out sugar before. nothing has ever ever worked until recently when i did significant calorie counting during the thick of my worst sports season (4 hours of cardio a day). it was only when i was consistently skipping lunch (i know, trying to be healthier mentally) and staying below 1500 a day that i actually began to lose weight. i still only lost maybe five pounds at MOST. i have no idea why it takes such drastic measures when i literally work out twenty hours a week ???
i’ve stopped exercise for a month because of season breaks and i’ve literally gained everything back and i’m still gaining. i’m up to about 1800 calories a day which should still be below my daily requirement but i’m literally gaining like crazy? and it’s fat too. i just need to know if there’s something wrong with my body or something i should be doing to like not be consistently like this. i’m also worried bc at the rate i’m gaining plus the fact that it’s all fat and that i’m at the upper end of healthy i might become an overweight bmi which is a nightmare for me.
any advice is appreciated please !!!!!!!
