Here's a rant because I'm sick and tired of people mooching on my planned out calories.
I'm a high school senior who usually plans 4 "eating times" per day. Background: My TDEE is 1610; I plan out 1100-1200 calories a day.
I don't get to school until 9:20 a.m., so I skip breakfast and usually eat something small, like an apple or some rice crackers around 11, during my second class of the day. I don't like eating heavy foods right off the bat, so my stomach needs a little prep before I can eat a full meal. (idk if that's just me, but heavy breakfasts are just not the move)
If I bring in snacks like rice crackers, veggie chips, blackberries, or grapes, friends around me somehow find it appropriate to take anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 of my food. I don't like sharing that I'm trying to lose weight with anyone outside my family, because people are extremely judgmental about it. So easy fix— I just started bringing in a solid apple for my morning snack. I love granny smith apples and since I've started eating them, no one has asked to take a bite. Of course, if I bring in apple slices, or food that's in pieces, I'll immediately be subject to people asking for food.
Normally, I'm able to net 150-200 calories in the morning. If I have moochers, I have no clue how much I really ate. And I'm really trying to avoid under-eating because that's dangerous :/
Which brings me to lunch.
I eat my lunch at different times everyday, but the window is always 12:00-1:20, depending on how hungry I am. For lunch, I like eating a bit heavier, since it's my first real meal of the day.
Here are two sample lunches I've brought in in the past week:
Sample One (591 Cals)
Two Mini Bagels (220 cals)
Mussels (86 cals)
Brussel Sprouts (36 cals)
Mango (249 cals)
Sample Two (516 Cals)
Avocado (240 Cals)
Grainfree Tortilla Chips (175 Cals)
Pink Lady Apple (101 Cals)
On the first day, I made little seafood bagel sandwiches and they ended up falling apart in the container. So I just decided to eat everything piece by piece, which meant that because it wasn't a sandwich anymore, it was up for people just taking my food. Yes, these are my friends, but it just got incredibly excessive. Don't even get me started on my mango cubes. I evenly cubed my mango the night before, so to have 1/3-1/2 eaten by other people had me miffed af.
Especially on days where I bring in chips or finger foods that are little bite-snacks, it just becomes public domain. On the second day, my friend literally took half my chips and just dipped them in an avocado half. It says I ate 516 cals, but in reality I could have eaten anything from 375-450, which even at its best, is still 60+ calories off of my 1200 daily allowance. Which I understand is low, but due to my height, gender, age, and activity, is what I need to lose weight.
Now, I usually stay at school until 7 for afterschool activities, so I pack an afternoon snack to eat around 4 and some dinner to eat around 6.
Same deal here. I've just learned that if I want to eat my food in peace, I need to bring in foods that just can't be evenly split. I love meal planning with all my heart. It's kinda fun to come up with foods that others can't really steal from me, but sometimes I just want to enjoy a bag of gummies, or some blackberries, or some popcorn.
I'm done ranting, so I'll just leave another thing that got on my nerves.
Cue afternoon snack, three ricecakes at 150 cals. I'm holding one near my mouth (they're pretty large, the Kroger caramel brand), just enjoying a bite, and one of my friends grabs it, breaks a third off, and just eats it.
What the fuck.
Even though that was at most 20 calories, I'm just extremely irked at this point. Okay. I'm done.
