For the past week I've started going to the gym, and have pushed myself hard and started rowing about 5km a day while trying to stick with three meals a day and smaller portions etc. I've been trying to just keep my diet balanced as opposed to cutting out anything completely. Before I went to the gym I started working out at home for a week, but before that I didn't do any exercise. I was feeling really good about myself, (I thought) my trousers felt looser, I was getting fuller on less, I had a lot more energy etc. Then I stepped in the scale Last Saturday I weight 145lbs, and when I got on today it said 158lbs. I did it twice to make sure. I'm absolutely heartbroken. I've been putting in so much effort and felt so proud of myself, and to find out I've put on 13lbs in one week! I don't know what to say. I want to give up, cause I clearly can't do this right. I feel sick.
