Need advice for getting started and sticking to it

Im a female who is 5’8” and weighs 189. I’m aiming for 170lbs (this number looks good on me). I’m looking for any words of advice or encouragement for getting started and sticking with a weight loss journey. I understand the food part but I tend to enjoy too many drinks on the weekend. I will basically have a great week then a bad weekend because I’ll have drinks on Friday, and sometimes also Saturday. I usually have too much and tend to eat late at night. This basically sabotages my week and I find myself feeling like a failure / broken record and get tired of resetting each week. Should I try giving alcohol up for 30 days to give myself a head start? If anyone has dealt with this issue, I would love to hear your story. Thank you in advance!
