I understand that counting calories is the only real guaranteed way to lose weight, but has anyone tried to lose weight without counting calories? Calorie counting does indeed make me lose weight, but for me it doesn't work in that it only works for a short time, then I get obsessed with numbers, then I don't eat healthy because i don't want to "waste" my calories on vegetables and stuff I don't love, then I feel deprived and/or very very hungry so I eat everything in sight.
My twin lost 80 pounds and is now a healthy weight and has been for years, but never counted a calorie. I want to be the same way, but I also think there's so much stuff that adds up like milk in tea or butter that I'd only really catch if I was counting calories. I almost never eat fast food, so that won't be an issue, plus I gave up soda last week and have just been drinking water so far.
I have been eating tons this week I'll admit, but I think that's because I gave up soda and am going through some sort of withdrawals because I really was addicted and only drank Coke or diet Coke, no water, every day since I was like 11. I've also had a lot of headaches. I read that caffeine is an appetite suppressant, so that makes sense that I'm so hungry and have been eating so much, but I don't want to start drinking cola again.
Has anyone lost weight without counting calories? How did you do it? Do you recommend it or have any tips?
