I've been hitting the weight room, and dieting for about 4 months. I feel much better and I can see the difference. I have some questions about the most recent body scan I had though.
The last 3 weeks I've lost a total of 3 pounds.. which I'm happy with, because I can see a major difference with the before and after of those 3 weeks. The only thing is, when I went to supplement superstore to do the body scan, my %body fat was actually .1 higher, and I lost muscle mass. They said this could be due to a couple of things, but the most likely was because
- Not enough protein.
- Too much cardio.
I've been burning about 3500 calories a day (when working out). I lift weights for about half hour, then do some cardio for about 20 minutes, slowly working my time up. Sometimes instead of doing cardio, I go shoot hoops for about an hour and burn even more calories (about twice as much as the cardio per my fitbit). I maybe do that twice a week instead of running.
My end goal is to lean out. I've bulked and I've leaned out before, and when I was lean I felt much better and it improved my performance for basketball much more. I even have pictures of what I was before I put on my weight. This is close to where I want to be back at.
So I guess my question is, do I continue doing the same thing I'm doing, continue burning as many calories as I have been and the body scan will eventually even out? Or do I lighten up my cardio, and more protein? My end goal is to not be super strong. I like being quick on my feet, everything feels easier being light.
This is my total journey so far (4 months in), and the bottom pic is where I'd like to return to. (sorry about the pic, it was the only one I have without a shirt on when I was really in shape. Sorry for being a dbag in the gym, I know:
