I want to preface by saying, I have been an athlete my entire life... up until now.. lol. But I’m not sure if this even plays a part.
I am now getting back in to working out. Have been extremely afraid/nervous getting back in to it due to my ACL/MCL surgery that happened in December of 2019. After recovering from surgery, everything shut down and is still shut down in my county due to high covid cases, so I never received physical therapy. I am still afraid to squat/sprint.. but I will ease back in to it. Gyms are closed so I am doing outdoor workouts.
My dilemma is, ever since my injury (which took place in September of 2019) I have not worked out at all. I gained some weight for a few months but then stopped gaining weight; have been the same weight for the past year. Not losing any and not gaining any.
Do I need to change my diet in order to lose weight? Or do you think my same eating habits combined with now working out will drop the weight off?
My eating habits currently have kept me in ‘maintenance’ as they say. I do not eat necessarily bad. Occasionally will eat some junk food once or twice a week but I don’t think my habits are terrible. That’s why I’m assuming there hasn’t been a huge weight change.
I’m not extremely obese, but I am 100% overweight and do not have a lot of mobility as I work a desk job, and truthfully, haven’t worked out at all. Not a single bit. Plus my lack of mobility from my injury and never doing physical therapy on my own or seeing my professional physical therapist in office has taken a toll on me.
Any advice is extremely appreciated. I am super nervous about getting back in to working out and would love pointers from this community. Thank you.
