I really hope I don't discourage people with this post. I'm a 6'4 male who lost 30 lbs in the last year and just recently hit the overweight mark. I still need to lose at least another 30 for my goal weight of 210lbs. I'm worried it is basically pointless.
After a little bit of googling, I've come across several studies from 2014/15 (legit sources) that say the chances of an obese male losing enough weight and maintaining it are 1 in 210 ( around 0.5%). I am so confused rn. The way I interpreted it, is that even if I reach my goal weight and continue dieting and exercise that there is a 99.5% chance I will regain ALL the weight within 5 years?! Why did nobody tell me this while I was gaining weight rapidly on the anti-depressent that put me in this f*cking position??
Anyways, I would really like to hear from any longterm success stories if anyone has some to share. Once again, this post isn't meant to discourage anyone- it's just that I am exteremely discouraged after finding out this statistic.
