My friend said 1,200 calories per day is starvation, is this true?

Hi new friends.

I’m 29, female , 125 pounds, 5’3”. I’m what you would describe as “skinny fat” I still fit into 26” waist jeans, but naked I don’t look so great.

I set my goal weight to 105, because that’s how much I weighed when I looked my best. I downloaded my fitnesspal and I’ve been doing 1200 calories per day for about a week. I lost one pound. My friend saw and told me I was heading toward having an eating disorder. She advised me to raise it to 1800. I just want to be healthy but I feel kind of lost. I read conflicting things on online calorie calculators.

Does anyone have a beginner’s plan I can stick to including calories and physical exercise? My goals are trying not to eat excess sugar or carbs (they have been a coping mechanism for depression) And to increase my exercise to lose weight. This is the beginning of my journey and any help and resources would be super appreciated.
