Meal planning around macros seems ridiculously complicated. Keeping fat at 25% seems hard. Plus they said there'd be no math!

I'm trying to both lose weight, curb my crazy cravings, and eat healthier. I have slightly high cholesterol and slightly high blood pressure. To deal with all these issues I've been seeing a dietian. She's having me log my food (I'm using MyFitnessPal) and I kinda enjoy that, it does help me plan a little.

But the macros! How do people manage to hit their macros consistently? I'm at the point where I'm going to assume if I'm within 5% it's close enough. She wanted me to try 25% protein, 25% fat, and 50% carbs. I seem to be more like 30% fat, 25% protein, and 45% carbs -- and that's if I concentrate on it. Getting under 30% fat seems hard. It's a mix of healthy fats (avocado, olive oil, salmon) and then whatever the heck is in the Gobble meal kits I make, which involve olive oil and more olive oil and sometimes cheese and stuff. Oh, and dairy too, that has fat.

I've been trying to adapt: I cut back on the olive oil I use in cooking, and I'm getting 0% yogurt and 1% milk instead of the 2% I used to get. Before when I first started logging I was like 50% fat, 25% protein, 25% carbs. So I've dropped it some. But I get to the end of the day and I'm like, okay self, I need 17 carbs and 11 protein, what do I eat? And it drives me nuts.

How well do people adhere to macros? And for those who are good at it: how do you do it? I'm kinda worried that my perfectionist self, who self-sabotages when I 'mess up a day' by eating too many calories, is going to start using this as another way to 'mess up a day' and eat unhealthy for the rest of the day/week.
