Have put on 100+ pounds the past couple years - feel like an abnormal amount has settled in my gut for my age (M26). My doctor assured me it’s normal, but I’m not convinced. Should I get a second opinion?

Currently - 250ish Pounds

I’ve put on a bit of weight in the past year and a half / year (150ish pounds to 250ish pounds). I know I need to get on top of losing some weight. But a lot of what I’ve gained has really settled in my middle - I’m only 26, and it just seems abnormal. I spoke to my doctor about my concerns when he brought up my weight at my last appointment; he did an ultrasound just to rule out a mass/tumor and my stats and numbers are fine currently so he told me just to focus on losing some weight. He said that a lot of sugars and carbs can lead to the “beer belly” look, but he admitted it’s uncommon for my age. Still told me not to overthink. But I really don’t feel like I eat a super unhealthy diet at all, and sure I’ve put on a couple pounds but it just seems like a strange distribution that’s making me seem more out of shape than I actually am.

Am I crazy? This is odd right? What could I be doing wrong? Should I get a second opinion in regards to maybe my thyroid or hormones or my metabolism or something like that? Should I see a nutritionist? I don’t really know where to begin or if it even makes sense to ask this here, but I figured many people here would have a better opinion than me. Thank you in advance!
