Hey guys. Firstly, apologies if this sounds stupid. I'm obviously missing something fundamental in my understanding of such things.
I am trying to lose some weight, nothing too much, but enough to be ready for Christmas hols. I used several different sites to calculate my BMR, which came out at 2400 calories, based on everything including very sedentary lifestyle right now.
The thing is, my fitbit sells me that each day, I burn as little as 1700 calories. I know such devices aren't 100% accurate, but even with a 10% error margin, how can I be burning less than my BMR? I thought BMR was the absolute minimum your body required to maintain current weight with only necessary body functions operating. Doesn't that mean either my Fitbit has a big problem or my BMR is completely wrong?
Or am I just really misunderstanding these principles? If anyone can help me understand what it is I'm missing, if what I've said is even clear enough to understand, I would be so very grateful. Without a correct BMR, it's difficult to calculate daily calories budget etc. So getting this correct in my head will really help me reach my goals.
Thanks in advance for any input or feedback guys!
