I've been trying, very unsuccessfully, to lose weight for the last couple of years. Unfortunately, between losing my job and remaining much more sedentary because of covid, I am the heaviest I have ever been at 245 lbs. I've gained about 60 lbs this year. To be blunt, I feel miserable. I get winded incredibly easy, I havent worn anything besides leggings and tank tops in years, and I feel very unattractive to my husband. I've tried hard many times to ear healthier, but fall back into old habits very quickly. My husband can eat anything he wants without gaining weight and likes the way I look so isnt the best at helping me change my diet.
Well, over the last few months my husband has been experiencing severe and worsening allergic reactions. He went to an allergist the other day. Turns out hes allergic to pretty much all the food we eat. Seafood, dairy, soy and wheat. Its severe enough that we are just limiting having those food items in the house, save for a very few exceptions. We realized this really limits our normal diet and lifestyle, so we have decided to make the conscious effort to eat better.
The last two nights we have actually cooked a healthy meal together - which we havent done in years. I've had more vegetables in the last 48 hours than I have in probably the last month, and we have started looking up meal prep and tasty recipes he can eat.
I'm going to try really hard to make this time stick, because my husbands health depends on it. I'm sad it took things getting to this point to get me to change, but better late than never right?
