So to start off, I'm 34/F, 5'7, probably 250lbs, and I just got off the phone with my doctor. I had a colonoscopy a couple of months ago after suffering some issues for a number of years. (It was actually suggested after they removed my ovary, which had ballooned to the size of a canteloupe and fused to my bowels.) Mostly figured everything was due to a poor diet, but he insists I have IBS on top of that.
I'm being referred to a dietician, but I'd like to get a head start in the meantime. The real kicker is that during the scope, he removed two polyps. Both were biopsied - one turned out to be nothing, but the other was pre-cancerous. He told me that if I hadn't had this done, it could have become cancerous within 5 years. My Grandpa died from colon cancer and I don't want to go out that way.
I also have pretty high blood pressure. I had lost about 60lbs a couple of years ago using CICO / IF/ Keto, which I've managed to regain after our second kid was born. I'm just done with this. I don't want to die from high blood pressure or colon cancer. I have two young kids (7 and 2) at home that need me.
Is there a diet or a lifestlye out there that will allow me to drop the pounds, help alleviate symptoms of IBS, normalize my BP and keep my intestines happy and cancer-free? I plan on ditching the booze too, since that's been a huge contributing factor in my weight-gain.
I guess I'm just kind of in shock right now. I don't have cancer, but now all I can think about is giving myself the best possibility of living a long and healthy life.
Thanks guys.
