My mom is 63, 5’2 and 165 lbs. She had a knee replacement in December. During recovery she fractured her tibia and it hasn’t healed yet, so it’s hard for her to do more than walk or ride an exercise bike slowly. She is a teacher so right now she’s sitting in front of a computer all day.
Her weight really crushes her self esteem and I know she’s so unhappy and wants to change it. She stuck pretty well to a 1200 calorie diet this summer but her TDEE is so low due to age/height/not being able to move much that she only lost a pound but was so hungry all the time and she got really discouraged.
Are there any other senior citizens or immobilized people on her who have lost weight? Does anyone have suggestions? I’m looking for exercise ideas mostly because she eats fairly healthy (lots of vegetables, no processed food, no soda, hardly any alcohol or desserts.) I have suggested swimming but she doesn’t want to go to a public pool with Covid still around.
