I'll keep it short: I've always been fat. At the age of 15 I weighed 100kg (220 lbs)... Now, at the age of 35 I'm thinner than ever: for 190cm (6inches 3 feet) I weigh a bit less than 70kg (154 pounds) and I've been able to keep that kind of weight for over 2 years. It took me years and years of trials and failures to come up with what I believe to be the easiest and the most logical set of habits. It's based on one paramount rule: nothing is forbidden but everything comes in moderation. It's very important to understand what your tastes are and never go against them. What is key though, is learning how to temper those tastes. Some examples of my "diet":
- food / drinks: just about any kind of item is ok BUT in small portions (examples: I drink beer, eat buttered bread, have dessert etc EVERYDAY; however, I rarely go beyond 2 small 0,33cl [about 11ounce] cans of beer a day, I put only a thin layer of butter on my bread and have tiny portions of dessert);
- I am a bookworm, not a person with any kind of interest in physical activity: therefore zero sports (no gym, no jogging, no swimming, nothing). However, I try to walk whenever I can and avoid sitting too much; on average, I probably get around 1-2h of walking a day and on top of that I get 2-3hours of standing up / doing light physical activity (chores etc);
- Eating out: I eat out once, twice a week and there is no "list" of things I can't have; I simply use common sense: if I had some fried item yesterday I'll order something lean;
- Planning / calorie counting / keeping track of things: I avoid any kind of planning because it's time-consuming and kind of humiliating. I rely on my moderation habits instead.
I need to point out though that it took me about 4 months of struggling to come up with the current "diet". It actually took my mind and body a while to get used to getting only what it needs, without any excesses.
