So, I kind of have both a SV and NSV accomplishment to talk about.
First the SV part- I have lost 19 pounds since I stated my new job on 3/22. I am so freaking excited about this, because the last couple of years have been really bad for me being able to lose weight and I have struggled a lot due to stress, medications, chronic pain and all the fun stuff.
For the NSV part, I am used to having a really big butt and dresses fitting weird. Typically dresses trend too look a little short in the back, but today when I was walking past the mirror in the bathroom at work I noticed that my dress was actually longer in the back than in the front, which is kind of awkward and makes me feel like I have lost all the weight from my butt and none from anywhere else, but I'll take it.
I have no idea if the things that I have been doing are particularly helpful because of the actions I am taking or because it's really different from what I had been doing for the last two years, but here it is:
-Exercise. I started working a more physical job, so on a normal work day I walk for anywhere from 30 minutes to 70 minutes just in one segment, and then spend a lot of time walking back and forth to do other things. I also normally either carry 10-15 pounds of papers or push a cart with a bunch of papers in it. When I'm not working, I am trying to get out and move more. Now that I'm fully vaccinated, I am more comfortable going places and have been doing stuff like outdoor flea markets and stuff that are a lot of walking and moving.
-Kind of inconsistent IF. I started working third shift and ended up having to change when I ate. Typically, my first meal of the day is at 6pm, then I have a small meal or a snack at 2:30am ish. I have been trying not to eat after 6am because I normally want to go to bed at 7 or 8. I have also been avoiding eating right before bed. I only eat outside of the 16:8 IF pattern if I'm particularly hungry when I get off work, and am not super dedicated to IF.
-Intuitive eating. If I am hungry, I eat either a meal or a small snack depending on the time. I think this keeps me from overeating later.
-Eating better food. We cook as much at home as we can. I try to put healthier food on the menu and avoid fried stuff, and lots of carbs and sugar. I also avoid excess sugar and try to limit myself to 1 soda a day. I try to stick to coffee with no sugar and just a little creamer. I don't track anything, but I have found that if I pack healthier lunches at work and plan better meals at home, I don't really need to as long as I don't overeat. I pack snacks at work like cashews and prepackaged stuff like P3 snacks or cheese cubes and Triscuits.
-Eating fiber. I have added fiber to my diet by eating fiber cookies. These keep me from feeling snacky at night.
-Drinking lots of water. I drink bottled water and drink zero calorie sweet tea and coffee to stay hydrated.
-Removing sources of stress eating or boredom eating. I didn't realize how much of an impact this stuff had, but here we are. I switched jobs from a stressful job where I ate all the time and picked up some crafting hobbies and new podcasts because I realized that I would just idly snack if I was bored or tired. It has been so good for me to have things to do other than have a snack to be occupied.
I am hoping that this trend continues as it has been.
