Weight Loss for Everyone: Realizing it actually IS about a lifestyle change.

Realizing it actually IS about a lifestyle change.

I gained +10lb over Covid. I've began and quit so many CICO "diets" over the last 1.5 years during this time. I've been seeking a temporary fix, when I actually needed to adapt and change my lifestyle overall.

I'm finally realizing that continuing to eat how I did when I was walking to the office every day and going to the gym after work, isn't going to work now that I work mainly at home and don't do much exercise.

I kept putting myself on stupid temporary CICO diets. E.g. "I'll just eat 1200 calories for the next 3 weeks, then go back to my old diet." Then guess what happened? I'd eventually gain weight and lose the progress I made.

I'm realizing it really is about a lifestyle change, and that I really need to reframe how I'm approaching food.

I made a good first positive step today. On the weekends, I usually like cooking high-carb / high-calorie / multi-portion feasts (think 850 to 1000+ cals per person) for the family. This time, I told myself no.

I picked out a recipe that was special, fun, but that was still a healthier option and a more responsible calorie amount. I know it's small baby steps, but I'm happy I did something to change the way I do food on the weekends.

I want to continue to make permanent healthier lifestyle changes from now on, and not just wait to get to my goal weight, only to eat mindlessly again. Lesson learned.
