It’s not an unhealthy relationship with food, it’s an unhealthy relationship with yourself.

My therapist told me this the other day, as I vented about feeling powerless about my unhealthy relationship with food. And you know what? She’s right. In all of those moments where I can’t think of anything else but my next meal or when I feel powerless to stop my next bite from happening before I’ve even taken it- there’s always a negative feeling. It’s not always about the same thing but 10/10 times there’s always something underneath it that I’m not letting out, and I feel compelled to eat to ease that pain I’m not acknowledging or letting out in a healthier way. It’s been really helping me put things into perspective.
