How compatible are diets like slimming world with CICO central diets?

At the moment I live with my parents, but do have the means of buying my own food and things. Both me and my mum are overweight and working towards getting slimmer, the kicker is that she is heavy set down the slimming world route whilst I’ve opted for the arguably more flexible and standard CICO mindset.

My mum respects me doing it this way, but I’m afraid we are incompatible when it comes to working together to lose weight, or so I think...?

The issue is, for example, if she cooks our dinner (tonight beef stew) she will tell me it’s 5 syns which although I understand the concept of, I can’t really stick into MFP. Also if I cook our dinner, I tell her it’s 450 calories per bowl, but she doesn’t know how to log that into her food diary.

I respect her choice to do SW also and I don’t want to cut her out for it because I think we are both traveling to the same goal, we are just using a different medium to do so.

Has anyone had experience in this? How can I translate what she tells me from a SW perspective to a CICO perspective?

Thanks
